Animal Meal

Animal meal is only recently being used as a fuel in larger quantities. The advantages are obvious: disease-causing agents and harmful substances are destroyed and taken out of the food chain and, simultaneously, energy is created.

Animal meal is used today in the manufacture of cement, in waste incineration or in energy centres of the paper industry.

The various types of animal meal show very different qualities, depending on their origin. Special attention must be given to important factors, such as fat and water content.

This is mainly by silo truck and the product is directly blown into the storage silos by pneumatic conveying. When unloading, several factors must be considered, for example, the prevailing air temperature.

Due to hygienic reasons, animal meal is stored in enclosed, cylindrical silos with special mechanical discharging facilities. Depending on the volume of the silo, it can be equipped with special cone or flat floor discharging systems.

Depending on the configuration of the plant, pneumatic or mechanical transportation is necessary to feed the metered products for combustion. For mechanical transportation screw conveyors and bucket elevators are suitable. For pneumatic transportation, the pipe run and the material of the pipes, with regard to the abrasiveness of the product, must be taken into account.

For some years, a completely new metering system with coordinated function units has been developed. It has been optimized for many different secondary fuels and successfully proven over a longer period of time.
