Sewage Sludge

Sewage sludge is a fuel rich in heat value and derives from the processing of sewage. The incineration takes place in cement factories, energy centres in the paper industry, as well as in the classical refuse incinerators.

Wirtech AG has many years experience in dealing with different forms of sewage sludge. We offer the appropriate solution, both technically and ecologically.

When working with sewage sludge, attention must be paid to the different moisture contents. Moreover, sewage sludge is very abrasive and depending on the dry substance content fermetation may still go on during processing. These points have particulary to be taken into account when designing a concept for these plants.

Delivery is mainly carried out by means of mechanical conveying facilities. Primarily suitable are chain conveyors, belt conveyors or screw conveyors. Due to the strong abrasiveness of the sewage sludge the conveying devices must be especially protected against wear.

Storage takes place mainly in enclosed, cylindrical silos with special, mechanical distribution facilities. Depending on the size of the silo and dry substance content, silos with special conical dischargers or with flat floor discharging systems can be used.

Also open unload and storage in bins with special thrust floor discharge is possible.

Special attention must be paid to fire and explosion protection.

For some years, a completely new metering system with coordinated function units has been developed. It has been optimized for many different secondary fuels and successfully proven over a longer period of time.

• Redundant function control
• Optional in pressure shock resistant construction
